  • In 1994 Chef Michael left his hometown of Dayton, Ohio for Missoula, Montana, and graduated from Missoula College with a degree in Culinary arts. Then he moved to Portland, Oregon, graduating at the top of his class at Western Culinary Institute.

Few chefs are fortunate enough to start their careers straight out of the gate with a culinary master. Call it luck or fate or tenacity –– Michael had what it took to put his skills to the test under the tutelage of Thomas Keller. Before he knew it, he found himself doing an externship at Bouchon and The French Laundry in Napa Valley. Over the course of 10 years, he ripened his skills at several positions within the company, including New York’s Michelin star-winning Per Se.

In 2009, Portland came back knocking on his door, with an opportunity to consult at Ten-01. Michael went –– and ended up an Executive Chef. And at Brasserie Montmartre, he put his American touches on their French menu with an attention to detail hearkening back to his Keller Days.

With a love of food, wine, sunshine and being surrounded by friends and family, Chef Hanaghan and his wife Jessica were excited to return back to the Napa Valley, where Michael helped Five Dot Ranch, a small local cattle ranch, open their butcher shop in the Oxbow Public Market in the heart of Napa.

But Chef Michael and Jessica wanted a smaller town in which to raise their daughters. So all roads led back to Missoula. Chef Michael feels truly blessed to be “home” again where his culinary journey started, and with a team of professionals who truly care about guests and hospitality.

  • Alcyone (pronounced all-see-on-ee) is an effervescent wine director whose major driving force is a life of sensory exploration through the pursuit of really great taste. Directly after graduating high school in a quiet midwestern town, she received a full scholarship to study documentary photography in Paris with National Geographic. The next five years were spent pursuing possibility through the lens of photojournalism, from documenting refugees in Greece to start-ups in Boulder. Eventually, in Montana, Alcyone discovered a new passion through the world of fine dining, starting as a dishwasher at The Ranch at Rock Creek and rising through the ranks until, eventually she was offering wine tastings to celebrities visiting the esteemed Relais and Chateaux property.

Alcyone is devoted to honing her own palate and embracing opportunities to learn from those around her. Celebrating life's myriad flavors and stories, she cherishes restaurants as the perfect harmony of storytelling and hospitality, where wine becomes the sublime vehicle that elevates her senses while inspiring others on their own delightful journeys of discovery.
